1What does an interventional cardiologist do?
An interventional cardiologist receives training in minimally invasive surgery, accessing the affected blood vessels using catheters inserted via the radial (wrist) or femoral (groin) arteries. Coronary artery disease, valve disorders, peripheral artery disease and heart defects are the conditions interventional cardiologists treat.
2Do I qualify for heart surgery?
If medicines and lifestyle changes don’t provide any relief, surgery can improve quality of life. Your cardiologist will perform a series of diagnostic and stress tests to determine whether you are eligible for heart surgery.
